In Spring 2024, the Collaborative Documentary studio partnered with We Are Better Together Warren Daniel Hairston Project (WAB2G) to co-create a film highlighting the personal stories of women affected by homicide and incarceration, in service of WAB2G’s work to interrupt cycles of violence and victimization.

A Look Inside the Co-Creation Process

The Spring 2024 Collaborative Documentary Social Impact Studio completed a 30 minute draft of the documentary It Starts With Us, which was screened at the Peace in Process event on April 30, 2024. As of October 2024, the film is still in post-production.

"For those of us that had our children incarcerated, for those of us that lost our children to homicide, [making this film] was truly transformational. The healing that happened through this film. . . my heart is heavy, but I’m feeling grateful.”

Ruth Rollins, Founder & Executive Director, WAB2G
