A Tree's Story
About
Inspired by Speak for the Trees' Tree Stories program, this short film centers on a single tree, situated at the edge of Forest Hills Cemetery's Lake Hibiscus, and gives a glimpse of humanity from the tree's perspective.
A Tree's Story was co-created by the students and learning partners of the Fall 2023 Creative Expression for Climate Justice Social Impact Studio, in partnership with Speak for the Trees Boston. The film’s team included Bailey Carr, Cynthia Francis, Olive Goldberg, Katherine Jaworski, Naomi Johnson, Theresa Lee, Stella Little, Saela Phillips, Julia Rudolph and Ruth Whitney.

A Look Inside the Co-Creation Process
Social Impact Studios, facilitated by the Engagement Lab, give Emerson students and faculty the opportunity to work directly with local grassroots changemakers to co-create media projects that will make an impact in Boston and beyond.
A Tree's Story was just one of many projects generated by Fall 2023’s Social Impact Studio "Creative Expression for Climate Justice" as part of the Transforming Narratives for Environmental Justice initiative.
